Supported today Plate Peeler

Azenta XPeel Integration

Drive your plate peeler in Python, without a vendor driver in between

Peel seals with your own speed, offset and adhere time, check a seal is there first, and keep track of the tape left on the spools.

What You Can Command on the XPeel

Three modules: peeling, device state, and device information.

Peel

Run a peel at slow or fast speed, with a start offset of -2, 0, 2 or 4 mm and an adhere time of 2.5, 5, 7.5 or 10 s.

Seal Check

Check whether a plate still carries a seal before you peel, and set the upper and lower thresholds of the seal sensor.

Plate Check

Turn plate checking on or off.

Manual Moves

Move the plate in to the peel position or out to the user, raise and lower the elevator, and advance the tape 10 mm at a time.

Tape Left

Read how many deseals are left on the supply and take-up spools, so you can change tape before a long run.

Reset and Firmware

Reset or restart the XPeel and read its firmware version.

How connectors work

Know One Connector, Know Them All

Every instrument is found and called the same way, and the same Python drives whatever comes next. See how that scales from one instrument to a whole lab with our lab orchestration software.

One API, Every Instrument

Find it by name, then call its actions. It's the same on a liquid handler, a reader or an incubator, whatever the vendor ships underneath.

Ask a Connector What It Can Do

Modules and actions are discoverable at runtime, and parameters carry their own types, units and constraints. You don't need a PDF to find out.

One Outbound Connection

One outbound TLS connection on port 443 to your tenant, so nothing needs opening inbound. Ports, hostnames, and setup are in the docs.

Also Works With

The same Python script can drive every instrument on the bench, so a plate can move from one instrument to the next without switching tools.

FAQ

Azenta XPeel

The questions automation engineers ask before integrating an XPeel.

Yes. The UniteLabs connector exposes the XPeel to Python: run a peel with the speed, offset and adhere time you choose, check for a seal, and read how much tape is left. It's the same call pattern as every other UniteLabs connector.

Yes. Brooks Life Sciences became Azenta Life Sciences, and the XPeel kept its name. The connector covers every XPeel model in our catalogue, including both mains voltages.

Speed (slow or fast), the peel start offset (-2, 0, 2 or 4 mm from the default position) and the adhere time after the elevator drops (2.5, 5, 7.5 or 10 s).

Yes. The seal check returns whether a seal is present, and you can set the sensor's upper and lower thresholds to suit the seals you use.

Yes. The connector has a simulation mode, so you can build and test the sequence before the peeler is on the bench.
