Hettich SBS 300 Integration
Drive your robotic centrifuge in Python, without decoding serial telegrams by hand
Set speed or RCF, run time and ramps, start and stop runs, bring a rotor slot to the door and open it, all in code.

What the SBS 300 Connector Covers
The connector reads the model on connect and turns on what that centrifuge has: door, positioning and teach on robotic models, temperature on cooled ones.
Runs
Set speed or RCF, run time (up to 59,999 s, or continuous), ramp and brake levels, then start and stop runs and stream speed, time and temperature live.
Rotor Positioning
Bring a chosen rotor slot under the door opening, stop a move, and set the slot count and whether to position after every run.
Door
Open and close the door at standstill, waiting until it's fully open or closed.
Temperature
On cooled models, set the target in half-degree steps and stream the actual temperature.
Teach
Run the teach procedure that stores the position of rotor slot 1.
Safety and Errors
Stream whether it's safe to operate, read the key-switch lock level, and stream and acknowledge active errors.
Rotor and Device Info
Read the model, the rotor's speed, RCF, ramp and brake limits, rotor cycle counts, operating hours and total runs.
Know One Connector, Know Them All
Every instrument is found and called the same way, and the same Python drives whatever comes next. See how that scales from one instrument to a whole lab with our lab orchestration software.
One API, Every Instrument
Find it by name, then call its actions. It's the same on a liquid handler, a reader or an incubator, whatever the vendor ships underneath.
Ask a Connector What It Can Do
Modules and actions are discoverable at runtime, and parameters carry their own types, units and constraints. You don't need a PDF to find out.
Also Works With
The same Python script can drive every instrument on the bench, so a plate can move from one instrument to the next without switching tools.
Hettich SBS 300
The questions automation engineers ask before integrating an SBS 300.
Yes. You set a run, position a slot, open the door, and start. All from Python.
The Generation 2 C-control family: SBS 300 and 300 R, ROTANTA 460 and 460 R, ROTINA 380, 380 R and 420, MIKRO 220 and BD TWISTER. It reads the model from the device on connect, and non-robotic models get no door or positioning commands.
Check the key switch. The centrifuge only accepts write commands in LOCK 2 and still answers reads in every other position, so a connector that can read but not write almost always means the key switch is elsewhere.
Not yet. The connector sets the run parameters directly for each run, and rotor cycle limits stay on the control panel.
Yes. The connector ships with a simulator that models the SBS 300 R and other Hettich models, so you can build and test a run end to end before the centrifuge is connected.
